Have you ever been in a postion where you have sacrificed something to do something for others and they have rejected it???... or they have used it in a wrong way... ??
well, I would like to compar this to some instances....
Our parents: Mamma coooks lunch... She takes so much pain to cook everything... planning what all dishes u might want to eat for lunch... and she packs it for her children. Maybe she actually dint wanted to cook that day, because she was just so tired to stand so long in the kitchen... But the child enjoyes in his/her school/college so much and wants to be one among those friends who always eat outside... and doest finish the lunch box... or may be gives the lunch box to others without eating it herself/himself so that mom will not be hurted... or may be throws the food while returning home...!! okey wht would happen next? After coming home children tries to explain it to mom.. and our moms accept it with so much love ... but yes, somewhere down in her heart she always WISHED and WANTED that you eat the lunch box which she made... because there was a purpose for making the lunch...and that lunch box could save u from many things which can go worse if u continue not eating it... And also she would never stop making lunch for you again, just because u dint eat it once or twice or maybe always!.
Couples: Couples might have to compromise on so many things and do things for their better half but at the end... maybe the husband or wife is so tired to listen to you... or tired to spend time with you... or doesnt want to eat the food that you have cooked... anything... we can very relate this scenario...But we dont stop doin it for our better halfs because we love them so much... and we are quick to forgive.
Now let me take you to one superior fact that happend in History.
A person has done something for our souls...!!
He was sacrificed instead of us...!!
He was hung because of us...!!
For our curses...!!
For our sickness...!!
For delivering us from addictions..!!
For redeeming us from the clutches of the evil one..!!
For our Joy!....
For our Souls!...
Because He was and is HOLY...
Because He loved us...
Yes. Read Matthew 26 from Vs 36 to know what Christ has gone through so that He can be sacrificed.
Gethsemane (Matthew 16)
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter.
41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.
44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
Did u notice these points in this passage:
- He was "overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death"
- He prayed three times the same prayer....
- He fell with his face to the ground and prayed...
- He says "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak"...
Oh man! can you even imaging how much pain He had!!!... ????
Well, He has done so much for you and me.... and just like the child who dint eat the tiffen box, just like the better half who dint care... just like the supervisor who sometimes dont take wht his sub-ordinate has done, we all dont accept what Christ has done!...
We also tell him... Lord we are like this... we also find excuses like the little child who brings back the lunch box... Yes some times, we say Lord I am like this... Iam sorry...Help me not to do this again!... And the LORD accepts us!
And Inspite of all that, He knows how we are... but still He died while we were still sinners... because HE loved us more than the mother who cooked luch... more than the better half who sacrificed... more than the sub-ordinate who sacrified!...
Most important thing is the point I am trying to make is not being emotional about Lord's sacrificed...BUT Iam proud of it!! Yes, and I want to receive ALL of it... Receive Joy of salvation... Receive His healing... Be redeemed from the clutches of the evil one... Be delivered from addictions... Be blessed beyond all curses...!! Do You also want to be one??? So, accept Him and His Bloood and by faith you are saved, you are redeemed, you are delivered, you are blessed!.. Because that is when the purpose is fullfilled...
Unless the child eats the tiffen box, the mamma's purpose of cooking the lunch is not fullfilled!
Here is something which explains about the blood of Christ:
Blood of Christ: (Hebrews 9)
11 But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation.
12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.
13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.
14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
16 In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it,
17 because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.
18 This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.
19 When Moses had proclaimed every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.
20 He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”
21 In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies.
22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
23 It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.
25 Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.
26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ (Romans 6)
1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.
6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—
7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Slaves to Righteousness: (Romans6)
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.
18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.
20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.
21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!
22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Great post Diana. Thanks for sharing. May we live as we are, redeemed by Jesus' sacrifice and the power of His resurrection.
